Now, this is one book I am completely 50/50 loving it and being frustrated over. I have devoured the Thoughtless series from the very beginning (yes, I am one of those who waited what seemed like eternity for Reckless to release), I got angry, I fell in love, I sympathized, I had fun with all of the characters and Griffin Hancock was one of my favorites. I always felt like he added color to the story with his dirty humor and don't-give-a-fck attitude. So, finding out that S.C. Stephens was writing his very own book had me bursting at the seams with excitement. I always wanted to know what makes Griffin, Griffin. The sexy, dirty, funny bassist of the D-Bags.

S.C. Stephens brought Griffin Hancock to life in Untamed. He felt more of a sensitive man than the big D we've seen of him in Kellan and Kiera's books. Honestly, even though I liked reading this side of Griffin, it was sort of difficult, too. There were moments where I just wanted to stop for a while because I felt terrible for him. He wanted to do more in the band. He wanted to show the others, and I think himself, that he is more than the silly guy. But he was shot down. Point blank. No questions. No chances. And this is why I yelled at my Kindle while reading it. Matt is also now on my blacklist. I understand them being hesitant about giving a more serious job for Griffin, the guy really has to prove himself after all the craziness he's been doing, but when he approached the guys about his idea and they never talked to him about it? No, sir. Just no. And sure, it might be immature or hasty but I understand how Griffin felt after that. He seemed whiny, egotistical, self-centered, jealous, insecure, but deeper than that he is sensitive, he is smart, and it hurts reading all the emotions he was feeling and all the things he has to go through just to grow up. He wasn't given a chance. They could have said "Okay, let's see what you got and if it will work for us" or "How about we practice your idea and if it's 100% doable, we can try it out one time and find out how our fans will like it and go from there?". So yes, I personally would've walked out, not how Griffin did it but I would've set up a meeting and talk to them.

Even with all the frustrations I felt, I loved seeing Griffin own up to his faults and I may not agree with all of the things that were apparently wrong with him (like finally standing up for himself), I liked that he thinks about his little family, I loved how much he loves them, I admired him as a family man, I admired how strong he was amidst the hurt and the failures and how he didn't just give up even though he wanted to. And no matter my lack of love for Evan and Matt in this book, this is Griffin's story and I loved Griffin, the good and the not-so-good. I just wished it took a different turn for Griffin before finding his way back, it felt like he was still an underdog.

Overall, Untamed is an enjoyable read which will take Thoughtless fans into an emotional tailspin about friendship, family, dreams, failures, and standing up after falling. Also, how freaking adorable is Gibson? I can see her as Griffin's mini-me, attitude included.
