A sassy artsy girl, a nerdy hunky guy, a sweet and romantic.... friends with benefits relationship?
I have enjoyed Renee Ericson's books, her These Days series was one of those books that I'm glad I took a chance on, but I'll have to say, More Than Water just may be my favorite from her.
"All over the blueberry bitch?"
EJ or "Evelyn", easily grabbed me from the first page. She's a sweet girl who doesn't let crappy things and situations get to her. Unless she's with her parents, it's easy to forget that they didn't exactly approve of her chosen path. Sure she tries to appease them but she doesn't sulk and whine about it. She's a very easy character to love. I guess the thing I like most about her is her artist's mind and her wit. EJ is admirable. 
I haven't read a lot of books with really nerdy guys as the main character, and the few that I've read, I loved the nerds. Foster is no different! He's geeky, a science nerd, but his sense of humor makes him a real total package, one in a million.
EJ and Foster may have different interests and in different paths but holy cow their chemistry was extremely fun to read. EJ easily grabbed me from the first page but EJ and Foster's first meeting got me turning pages! Sarcastic and sweet, that's how it was for me and it got better from there. I highly recommend this to everyone looking for a new, enjoyable NA romance!

4.5 Charlie and Landon Stars

What the bejesus did I get myself into with this book? Relinquish is the first book I've read from M.N. Forgy. I didn't know how she writes her characters and stories. I am not familiar with her writing style. Yet, I didn't think twice about signing up to read and review this book because the synopsis intrigued me. I have been on a roll reading fluffy romance, and even though I love the occasional cheesy and steamy reads, I always want a "palette cleanser" so to speak. Relinquish was that palette cleanser for me.

Having no over-the-top expectations, I was incredibly surprised and happy to report that Relinquish was a finished-in-one-sitting read for me. To say that I was easily captivated with Landon and Charlie's story just wouldn't do it. I was hooked. Intrigued. Then I started feeling sorry for Charlie and then mad at Landon and then I was hopeful for them.

An 18-year old girl, a 25-year old man... both trying to make a life for themselves and both have pasts that's as traumatizing as it was heartbreaking, yet they are strong and even though Charlie and Landon annoyed the heck of me sometimes, I understand that the lives they have lived doesn't make a person automatically make smart choices and decisions and that their personalities and who they are now are the effects of what they had and still live through. 

"If there is something I know, it's that you have to relinquish it all before you can have it all."

Relinquish, overall, is a touching dark surprise that I was glad to have taken a chance on. From how the story, the writing style, and the characters that M.N. Forgy did in this book, looks like I'll be adding more of her work on my TBR.

Stars: 4.5 stars
