My heart is actually breaking while I rate and review this book. While I loved the first book in this duet, Free Me, this conclusion just did not work well for me. I've been holding my breath with excitement waiting for answers, waiting for JC's story, waiting for the continuation and sadly, the end of JC and Gwen's intriguing and full of chemistry love story. And while I did get the answers to my questions, I was frustrated most of the time.

I believe I am in the minority, I didn't read any reviews prior to reading this book and I've loved the author's earlier trilogy. What got me ending up skimming after 50% of this book was the detailed back story on Gwen and Chandler. I can deal with it for the first chapter I read about their fling, eventually, it just feels like more about Chandler than JC and Gwen. Then there was that particular drama that sealed the deal for me and made me say, "I am not enjoying this the way I expected I would", and that was it. Interest lost.

So it is with sadness that I am rating this a 2.5 instead of the 5 I was looking forward to. There were good parts that I liked and even enjoyed and I'm not discounting those, but overall, it was too much (drama) and at the same time not enough (oomph-effect) for me.

REVIEW: Illusive (Storm #6) - Nina Levine

Title: Illusive
Series: Standalone
(but best to be read in order)
Author: Nina Levine
Release Date: August 25, 2015

5 Handsome Stars
ARC received from Nina Levine for an honest review

"This man. Oh my."

That is exactly what I keep saying out loud throughout reading the new book in the Storm MC series! This man. Griff. Oh. My. Goodness. I love all the Storm men, but Griff is another character on his own. Nina Levine knows how write her stories to make sure that each character in each book has their own personalities and stories to tell but at the same time, each story weaves and connects with each other. I've said this in my earlier reviews, but that is what I adore about this series and Nina Levine's writing. It's addicting!

Illusive is another perfect example of the author's talent. We've read sneak peeks on Griff in the first books in the series. I got curious. I got excited. At some point, I was worried where the story would lead his character. Then... Illusive came out and my curiosity was fed. He was an extremely passionate guy, sensitive, and protective. What happened in his past was tragic, I like how the author didn't dwell too much on the past but was still able to express the emotions from those events. Griff is such a complete package kind of guy, he's hard to his enemies but a softie when it comes to his family, he likes keeping his feelings to himself but wants to know what others are feeling. And I don't know why, but he caught me by surprise when it came to his bedroom activities. It's a great kind of surprise and I thought "Ah, well, it figures he's like this!" H O T. Cold shower recommended.

Then there's Sophia. I have my own favorite hero, heroine, and couples -- all different, but I think I found my number 1 Nina Levine heroine in Sophia. It helped that I love how she complements Griff, her personality, like what Aunt Josie mentioned, balanced the seriousness of him. Her rambling was endearing! That's another top reason why she's now my favorite Storm girl.

The push and pull between Sophia and Griff was just perfect! No rush, no drag, just a good amount of no's and yeses and that's what I like in my romance read. And damn the I was enjoying every page that I had a bit of a hangover when I got to the end. I wanted more and thankfully, the 7th book is just around the corner. Even though it will be about Scott and Harlow, I'm just happy to read the Storm guys and gals again and the continuation of Storm as the Club's story because Illusive had a lot more club business in the story than the other Storm books and it just keeps getting better and better!

Stars: 5 stars
Recommended to: MC romance readers. Fans of the Storm series.
Series: Yes. Interconnected characters.
POV: First person. Dual POV.
Extra Comment: Action, humor, sexy, sweet, and an amazing storytelling.

EXCERPT
His strokes were slow and rhythmic, designed to work a woman to a crazed state. I should know because he was slowly taking me there. He didn’t want me to come yet, but that was getting harder and harder with each new round of pleasure. Each time a wave crashed over me, my muscles threatened to let my body collapse onto the bed. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could hold myself up.

And not to reach out and touch him? That was a whole other level of how-the-fuck-will-I-make-it-through-this?

He pushed another finger inside so I now had two delivering me heaven. I writhed under his touch, my muscles seriously beginning to tire. My eyes squeezed close and my fingers curled into a ball, wanting desperately to cling to something, but unable to latch onto anything the way they were tied. The orgasm that continually tried to shatter me, moved dangerously close until it reached the point where I thought I could no longer fight it.

“Griff, I can’t…I can’t do this anymore.” I panted as my muscles gave way and my body dropped to the bed.

His fingers left me, and in what felt like a split second, he had me flipped onto my stomach, and he’d moved so his knees were on the bed, either side of my legs. One of his hands landed on the bed beside me while he placed the other one on my back. He growled into my ear, “Do you know what happens when you don’t obey me, Sophia?”

My breathing had turned into pants and my muscles were screaming at me, all while my pussy pulsed with need. “No,” I managed to get out, even though I struggled to form a thought while my mind tried to deal with all my senses at once.

“When you don’t do as I say, I get to punish you, in any way I want.”

REVIEW: Tyrant (King #2) - T.M. Frazier

Title: Tyrant
Series: Book 2 of King series
Author: T.M. Frazier
Release Date: August 16, 2015

5 Motherf%cKING Stars
ARC received from T.M. Frazier for an honest review

"We're a forever kind of thing."

Repeating what my opening statement on my King review, ABSOLUTELY F&$KING STUNNING! But I don't think I will be able to ramble on like my Book 1 review because the author did a monstrous job in King and Pup's conclusion. There were a lot of twists, turns, and surprises that I wouldn't dare spoil for anyone. Tyrant should be experienced spoiler-free!

What I can, and will, say, is T.M. Frazier made the (not-so-long) wait totally worth it! While King (Book 1) was about Pup/Doe struggling to remember things about herself, Tyrant started off where King ended and slowly, pieces of her memory came back to her. I admire how the author unraveled the mystery, slowly and very intriguingly. All the answers to our questions in the first book are in this book, and so much more. And I really mean all and so much more. There were times where I felt scared that where the story might go will frustrate me, but then Preppy appears and says, "Calm your clit", and I flove Preppy too much not to listen to him.

King and Pup's chemistry is still off the charts! I love that King is confident, brave and trusts Pup. Same with Pup and how she is with King. And even though their love story is not fluffy, I adore the relationship they built and both of them as a couple just... makes sense. You know? The raw emotions were there as if I experienced everything, good and bad, with them. In Book 1, I had Preppy to balance out the seriousness and heavy stuff with his humor. In Book 2, I still felt Preppy's presence and now there are cute kids involved. My weakness!

Tyrant overall, should not be missed by those who have read and loved King. Every question you have in book 1 will wrapped with a red bow in this book. You might even end up with a book hangover like I did. On the upside, there's a book for Bear and hopefully, we'll see King and Pup with their littles, too!

Stars: 5 stars
Recommended to: You! Her. Him. Them.
Series: Book 2, the conclusion of King and Pup's story.
POV: First person. Dual POV.
Extra Comment: Preppy will forever be in my mind and my heart...

REVIEW: Twinsequences - Jennifer Foor

Title: Twinsequences
Author: Jennifer Foor

3.5 to 4 Double Crazy Stars
Review copy received from InkSlinger PR for an honest review

"This is like something I read in my novels. I didn't think this kind of stuff happened in real life."

Twinsequences about had me pulling my hair out of my scalp and gave me some anxiety attacks with all the craziness that's been happening in this Jennifer Foor novel. I've read the author's Mitchell Family series and the spin-off, Mitchell/Healy series, both of this series are what had me hooked in Ms. Foor's writing. And just when I thought she writes amazing family sagas, I read something as crazy as Twinsequences.

Although not my favorite writing from the author, I got emotionally invested with the story and the characters. The plot has got incredible potentional, I love books that make me think, keeps me guessing, leaves me on the edge of my seat, and this book did that to me. The storytelling, however, felt a bit bland for me. Hence, the torn between "it's okay/I liked it" and "I really liked it" rating, because I loved the story but several scenes and dialogues just made me "What?! Really?!". But then again, it's a good thing my emotions were stirred, right?

Overall, I liked it and even though this is not a new novel from Ms. Foor, I enjoyed reading something new (to me) from her. It just shows how creative the author is and that she has so much stories to write. Now, I'm never a fan of Ivy, but because I want to read more about Willow and Stoshua, I want to read her side of her crazy-train story.

Stars: 3.5 to 4 stars
Recommened to: Mystery romance. Anyone? ;)
Series: Standalone. (But I saw in an email that there's a Part 2 with Willow's POV)
POV: First person.
Extra Comment: Twinsequences is just an example that people who you think are normal can be hidden psychos and that communication really goes a long way! I can't wait for Book 2.

REVIEW: Insider (Exodus End World Tour #1) - Olivia Cunning

Title: Insider
Series: Book 1, Exodus End World Tour
Author: Olivia Cunning
Release Date: June 30, 2015

4.5 Dear Journal Stars
ARC received from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review

"A sweet lamb left to fend for herself in a den of wolves. Whatever will we do with you?"

After reading the Sinners on Tour series and then finishing Insider, I can 100% say Olivia Cunning rocks writing rockstar romances! From the first page, meeting Toni, meeting Logan and seeing the rest of the Exodus End band members, up until the last page of the book, I was enjoying myself.

Toni  was an enigma, she's a virgin but can handle herself extremely well when it's time to get down and dirty. She plays off the innocent girl but a fierce tigress comes out every now and then. I loved that about her. It made her interesting and pretty adorable. I don't understand some of her earlier decisions and actions but in the latter parts of the book, it added spice to her and Logan's incredibly steamy story.

Logan, oh Logan. *insert dreamy sigh* This hottie of a book boyfriend just about cracked my cheeks from the smiles he gave me. He's charming, foul-mouthed, sexy, he speaks his mind and goes after what he wants. Who wouldn't want him? Certainly not me. From the first page he appeared on, I already knew I would love him. He's practically why I couldn't stop reading.

Olivia Cunning created such amazing characters and not just with Toni and Logan but the rest of Exodus End and Toni's family (hello Birdie!). Except for the evil b*tch, Susan, who acts all superior. What I love about this author's writing is that it really has the rockstar lifestyle feel, and as a reader, I felt like I was with the characters living the story with them and not just an outsider watching. It felt real and Insider was that to me. I'm holding on to the .5 star though because I felt like I wanted more from that "conflict" and "resolution", though I have to give it to Logan and Toni for being able to fix their relationship that quickly. Communication really goes a long way.

Overall, Insider is yet another gem to add to Olivia Cunnings collection!

Stars: 4.5  stars
Recommended to: Fans of Olivia Cunning. Readers of rockstar romance.
Series: Yes. Standalone.
POV: Third person. Dual POV.
Extra Comment: Birdie is the sweetheart of this book!
