"A necessary sin. That's what tonight is."
From the rich entrepreneur Jack McLachlan to Sinclair Breckenridge, Georgia Cates sure knows how to capture my "book boyfriend" ideals -- well, minus the one being they used to be man whores and one of them was a soon-to-be leader of an organized crime brotherhood.
Sinclair Breckrenridge is soon to head their crime brotherhood, also known as The Fellowship. He is fierce, quite intimidating and smart too. Oh did I forget to mention that aside from being the son of the head of the brotherhood, Sinclair or Sin is also a lawyer. Fitting, right? He's the counsel of the brothers when they get in trouble with the law. As a brother, he was that. As a guy who's smitten? He's that and so much more. I couldn't imagine him being gentle and thoughtful after the way I've seen him act and talk around his brothers and that girl. So it left me in a puddle when he turned all loving and protective in his own alpha-soon-to-be-The-Fellowship-leader kind of way.
Bleu MacAllister is a woman on a mission. She's been preparing to take her revenge ever since she survived that night her mother got killed by who she believes was Thane Breckenridge. Breckenridge, yes, Sin's father. She honed her skills, did her research and even as a young girl, her only dream was to put a bullet through her mother's killer. Bleu was a determined woman. Imagine being a 7-year old girl having listened behind closed doors your mother being murdered, your dog killed right before your eyes and then you being smothered and left for dead. Tragic and heartbreaking. I was gripped from the Prologue until that another rather sad "ending". Come to think of it, tragic start and heartbreaking end. Hmm.
Georgia Cates takes us to the world of Bleu and Sin, not the usual foundation of a love story but still as interesting and heartwarming at time. Bleu's determination to kill her mother's killer took a few hurried turns with her adoptive father being ill, she has to act on her plans sooner than she thought and the easiest way is to get through to Thanes son -- Sin. But what Bleu didn't expect is how her emotions will make a play on her plans. I love how when she was with Sin, it's not really all about revenge. I felt how her feelings developed from loathing to caring to falling in love.
Bleu isn't the only one with the complication especially since Sin started showing more affection to her. The brotherhood is not welcoming of women outside the Fellowship and Bleu is an outsider. The way those two were to each other was a treat to read. I love that Bleu saw more than Sin being a criminal of sorts. I love that she's logical and reasonable when it came to her feelings towards Sin and the rage she has for Thane. She didn't hold back on what she feels just because he's the son of who she thinks is her mother's killer. Sin was also admirable. He stood by Bleu. He protected her from the brothers, he cared for her and claimed her, The Fellowship way.
A Necessary Sin is a necessary read for every romance reader who enjoys a but of suspense and a lot of alpha! Did I mention that I'm guessing a good twist into the story and I'm sure the second book will be thrilling!

Georgia resides in rural Mississippi with her wonderful husband, Jeff, and their two beautiful daughters. She spent fourteen years as a labor and delivery nurse before she decided to pursue her dream of becoming an author and hasn’t looked back yet.
When she’s not writing, she’s thinking about writing. When she’s being domestic, she’s listening to her iPod and visualizing scenes for her current work in progress. Every story coming from her always has a song to inspire it.
