Synopsis:
He’s twenty-four. She’s eighteen.
His life is exactly the way he’s always wanted it to be...stable.
She’s quite possibly the very definition of unstable.
Noah saved her. Georgina never wanted to be saved.
Growing up, Noah Clark was passed from one relative to the next until he finally ended up living with his abusive, alcoholic uncle in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Thanks in part to the unwavering love and support of his best friend, Ellie Turner, Noah survived those years, escaped his uncle, and grew into the man he is today. Now he runs his own business and lives a pretty normal, no-nonsense life—one where he maintains a high level of control.
Georgina is Ellie’s younger sister. Four months ago, Noah saved Georgie’s life, but he thought that was where his involvement with his friend’s sister would end. Now Georgie has returned home from the recovery facility her parents sent her away to and Noah, still haunted by the night that connects them, can’t stop himself from continuously trying to protect this girl he barely knows. But is he willing to give up all of the control he’s worked so hard to build in his life and risk everything for her? Even more importantly, would she do the same for him?

4.5 Noah Loves Georgie Stars!
ARC received from the author for an honest review
AH-MAY-ZING! I remember when I got the request from the author to review this book a few months ago while I think it was still in progress. I read the blurb and immediately agreed.
Age difference? Yes.
Interesting story (based on the synopsis)? Yes.
And it was a plus that when the cover was revealed, it was pretty.
So, beautiful cover? Yes.
Sarah Darlington started Kill Devil Hills with a punch. She went straight in and hit the emotional nerve that I have. It was sad and gripping and made me want to know the why behind Georgie’s actions and the how in what Noah must have felt then. I can only imagine and I do not want to ever know what Noah and Georgie went through that day.
But as much as it started out with an emotional bang, it was not all that depressing as I thought it would be and I was perfectly fine with it. I sort of expected to get all depressed and down after that opening but I let out a huge sigh of relief when I read further on and saw that it’s also a sweet love story with a touch of life lesson thrown into it.
Kill Devil Hills had a good amount of tears and smiles out of me and that was for me a good experience when reading a book. Since this is my first Sarah Darlington novel, it’s a whole new experience for me and I’m super happy that I ended up enjoying it and wished there was more look into the future for these two strong characters. But that one scene with Noah and Ellie near the end made me smile and think… ”Ohhhh, are we getting an Ellie book?” because that dialogue sure was interesting! All of the characters in this book were likeable, even the ones who at some point were frustrating have redeemed themselves at the end (*ehem* supposed bestfriend *ehem* boyfriend).
I loved how “easy” it was to read Kill Devil Hills even with the real-life issue that it tackles, the problem was relatable especially if you’ve lost a loved one or a family member. It was not too heavy but gripping enough to feel for the characters. Noah and Georgie will surely touch your hearts and make you fall in love!
