Synopsis

I’m so fucking pissed off that she would do this to me. I really thought we had something, but instead, I’m left feeling like an idiot. All I want to do is go back home and forget the last few weeks ever happened, but I’m stuck in this stupid country teaching tennis to spoiled rich kids who care less about playing than I do. All I want to do is forget about her. But things are never that easy, are they?

After that hold-your-breath cliffhanger that we were left with on Volume 1, we get to find out Scarlett's "secret" in this installment. Well, sort of. We find out who that guy is and his role in Scarlett's life. We also get to meet a whole new side to our charming British guy, Ryder Stevens.

In Volume 1, we met a slutty, charming, don't-care-about-anything hotshot tennis player, Ryder Stevens. That unfortunate night he injured himself was a life changing experience altogether. It led him to mother and son, Scarlett and Jake, who made quite an impact on how he lives his life. Scarlett, in Volume 1 was witty, tough and dreamless. Even though she's a single parent and her son is ill, she was strong and determined to provide for both of them and as much as I admire her determination, I liked her even more for accepting someone's help for her son without too much fight. It's selfless to set aside your pride to get the help your son needs.

Now in Volume 2, I read a whole new side to Ryder and Scarlett. Of course, Ryder was still his cocky self but with a touch of protectiveness this time around. He made me love him even more, especially after that d*ck move he did when Scar tried to explain, when he showed how deeply her cares for Scarlett and Jake's well-being and safety. He's not all talk and no action. He started being more sensitive and aware of Scarlett's actions and now talks to her first before assuming anything. However, this is not the same with Scarlett. She was somewhat carefree in the first installment, this time, there's more to her story that she lets on. She explained things to Ryder but she wasn't upfront about everything. In her desire to keep Ryder safe and not be included in her problems, she kept a secret and yeah, we're also not in on what that is also. I'm guessing that one will unfold in the 3rd and final volume which is coming out in a week and I'm looking forward to it already!

When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.
