BLOG TOUR, REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Pulled - A.L. Jackson

Melanie Winters and Daniel Montgomery shared a love most only dream of, a love they believed bonded them together for life.

When their world is shattered by the tragic loss of their daughter, overwhelming grief and misguided guilt distorts the truth, and their relationship ends in uncertainty and unanswered questions.

For nine years, they drift through life, each unable to forget the one who holds the strings to their heart. In an attempt to escape the pain of her past, Melanie finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage, while Daniel loses himself in a career that means nothing without Melanie by his side.

Now, when their lives again intersect, neither can deny the connection they felt so long ago. But will the power that drew them together be enough to heal the wounds from their past, and will they have the courage to overcome the insecurities and fears that threaten to keep them apart?

Pulled is a story of attraction and separation, of destiny and duty, of a love so strong it refuses to give up even when all others have.

"Okay, this one did it for me in a big way. I'm an angst-lover. And by that I mean, I'm a Thoughtless, Beautiful Disaster, Love Unscripted, Slammed, Fifty Shades of Everything, kind of reader. But there's gotta be an HEA. And not a half-done HEA but a real yeah-this-story-has-been-agonizing-but-look-it-was-all-worth-it HEA. So, that said, I earnestly recommend this book. If you're like me, you'll like this. Enjoy!" LitJunkie

"It's like we share the same soul, and when we're apart, each half is looking for the other."

Ms. A.L. Jackson has a touch in her writing where she puts you in a world of real life drama but your imagination and emotion will rule everything else. This was how Pulled was for me.

"I didn't know how and I didn't know why, but what I did know was a change was coming."

Nine years of suffering and heartbreak, this is what Melanie and Daniel lived through. A painful accident that pulled them apart. Nine years after that, life pulled them back together again.

As with the first ever A.L. Jackson book that I've read (Take This Regret), she managed to make me cry painful tears not even halfway through the story. I was angry and frustrated at Melanie and at some point I didn't want to go through the whole book. But I know, I know A.L. Jackson is just setting me up for something good. Something that will explain everything to me and will break my heart all over again, so I braved through the misery that was Melanie and Nicholas' life. And it was worth it! Slowly, with each chapter, I figured out what happened with Melanie. I ached for her, although I don't agree with how she lived her life for those 9 years following the accident, I understood that there really are women who will also go with the choices that she's made. It's difficult but that's how she coped.

"I don't think I'd ever even seen another woman's face since the moment I'd met her. It was as if my mind couldn't register anyone else."

Daniel was no better during those years apart too. Yes, he became a successful doctor, but the ache from the past still lingers fresh in his mind and his heart. The day his soulmate, his great love, disappeared from his life was the day he's never been the same. His family noticed and are extremely concerned for him. He went through life like a living zombie, lacking the fire and happiness that he once had with Melanie. That's not saying that he didn't have his fair share of women. He did. One-night stands were his thing. No commitments. No relationships. But one slip-up from months ago might cost him. Especially now that Melanie is back.

"Yet fate had brought it back to me, confirming what my heart had told me all along. Daniel loved me. That knowledge alone gave me the first true joy I had felt in years."

Life really has a way of pulling things together. That is what happened with young sweethearts Melanie and Daniel. Even though circumstances and some people pulled them apart, they were still pulled together by life, or maybe destiny, or maybe it's the strong bond that they have with each other. Whatever it is, they were pulled back together and this time it's forever.

"Every emotion I'd had in the last nine years flowed between us -- the pain, the longing, the desire, the lost love, each one crashing and washing over us in waves."

Misunderstandings and lies unraveled, so many years wasted and that's what hurt me the most. Aside of course from the present lives that they live, it's the thought that they should have been happy and a normal couple instead of broken and hurting apart. But I guess that's how life is sometimes, it lets us experience all these pains just so we can find our happiness again and know better than to let anything or anyone come between you and that happiness again. This is what I learned from Melanie and Daniel. Pain can make you stronger. Misery can make you go with not-so-smart choices. But once you let go of all those emotions, happiness and love will find you and make you whole again.

For a debut novel (now re-released), A.L. Jackson undeniably pulled this off!

AUTHOR BIO:

A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of Take This Regret and Lost to You, as well as other contemporary romance titles, including If Forever Comes, Pulled and When We Collide, as well as the New Adult Romance Come To Me Quietly due out January 7, 2014.

She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.

Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children. Her favorite pastime is spending time with the ones she loves.
