"Damn the man for continuing to march all over my heart like I was dirt and he was the freaking army storming some other girl's castle!"

Friends to lovers, years after, unrequited love at first -- I enjoy reading love stories that start like this. And the books that I've read from Rachel Van Dyken (Ruin and The Bet series) all made me cry, laugh, and fall in love with no fail. I loved those series! Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same with The Consequence of Loving Colton.

I enjoyed the first 20-40%, it was absolutely funny and catchy. But then at some point, I felt like the story is already dragging. I know it's too early to say at 40% but when you start off with such a high, quick wit story, it feels like you're slowly being dragged down to who knows where in a snap of a finger from too much push and pull. It is with a sad heart that this turned out an "okay read" for me and not like my early RVD experience. This doesn't mean that I won't be reading the author's other books (I have the Elite series on my Kindle), 5 out 6 4 and 5-star reads weigh more than this 1 that didn't turn out as well.

Stars: 3 stars
Recommended to: Fans of friends to lovers romance, RVD books, and if you want to laugh and fall in love, give this a try. You might enjoy it better than I did.
Series: Standalone series
POV: First person. Dual POV.
Extra Comment: I love Max, though!
