I always enjoy a breather from all the series, full-length, angst-filled books I read and when I read Taught's blurb, I was intrigued and thought this book would be it for me. It was and then it wasn't. The first page or two was enough to get my attention, by the next page I'm feeling a sense of deja vu from where the story is heading and what's going to happen.
Quick reads, novellas especially, with a good amount of romance and steam without compromising the characters' development and story flow are something I appreciate. I know it must be a challenge for authors to write a book with less than 100 pages and have it a complete story. While I loved the blurb, it was what made me want to read this after all, it felt a bit hurried for me to be into the characters. I know this is going to be a short read, but I was still hoping to connect with the story. I guess being it 40 pages and reading like it was in fast forward, didn't work for me.
The writing, the first intro of the characters, and the hotness overall wasn't bad at all. I think if it was a bit longer, there will be an opportunity for a build up enough to make Marissa and Brady hold my interest.

Recommended to: Novella fans. Readers in need of a quick book to finish.

Extra Comment: I wonder if the next book in the series will be a continuation. If it is, I would still like to give it a go and see how things will progress between Marissa and Brady.
