It seems Kate Williams has it all; money, great job, a supportive family, and an amazing group of friends. What she lacks is the confidence and ability to make a good decision regarding the men in her life. After the worse break up yet, she runs into the arms of Ryan, her long time best friend and the one that seems to always mend all of her broken hearts. But after years of being "That" guy, he is ready to confess to her what he has felt all along.

A night out with her friends brings a complete stranger into the mix. One encounter on the dance floor is all it took for him to flood her every thought. But Is he really a stranger after all or is he closer to her than she thinks?

Should Kate take the chance and chose her best friend, knowing he will cherish her forever? Or should she take a leap and go with the man that had her heart before she even knew his name?

Someone’s heart will be broken, someone will lose everything they hold dear, and someone will tell the ultimate lie and destroy everything.

Will fearing regret keep Kate away from what she really wants most?

AUTHOR BIO:

I have a mad passion for books. It could be considered an addiction by some.
After the responsibilities of work, being a mother and a wife are  fulfilled each day, I escape in a book.
I never really thought of myself as a writer before. My true passion was as a reader.
One day an idea came to me and I could not stop after that first thought.
I hope you all will enjoy what I can bring you. I have plenty more ideas to go from here.

My Review

4 No Fear Stars!
ARC provided for an honest review

Just when I thought I was safe from crying in the wee hours of the morning, I read Fearing Regret. What I thought was going to be a feisty, somewhat angsty, and occasionally romantic experience turned out to be that and more. It made me smile and mad and then it hurt me so much I ended up sobbing and went to sleep with a sad heart. But a happy sad heart, if that even makes sense.

Fearing Regret is the story of Kate and Tony but for me, it wasn’t. Not at the beginning and maybe not even until before the Epilogue. So maybe their story is in the middle? But let me backtrack.

Kate is the older sister of Ash (from Finding Solace), she’s been in relationships with mostly jerks who take her for granted and the latest boyfriend she had was no exception. Now, with her brother starting his own family, she fears she might end up alone in life. Good thing that she have a great support group -- amazing friends and loving family. After her “break-up” with her latest boyfriend who has a habit of standing her up for hours at a time, she decided to cut her losses and just enjoy with her best friends. Then the surprising thing happened. One of her best friends, Ryan, admitted feelings for her. I’d say I was surprised but I kind of expected that when Ryan first entered the story. And I’m sorry Tony, but Ryan is my main man in this book. ;)

Ryan is a sweetheart. He is a supportive friend to Kate especially, and he’s protective as much as he is charming and sweet when he wants to be. I love how he carried himself throughout the story and that decision he made in the latter part? I was with him 101%. He knew when to push and when to pull. And although I hoped things didn’t go down like it did, it made me root for Ryan even more. He touched my heart and he is one of those best book guy friends that will stay with me for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, there were times I wanted to smack him upside down and just tell him “Hey, just pick me!” but that only made him feel real to me. Everyone makes stupid decisions, right?

Kate and Ryan’s friendship however took a sidestep when Kate saw Tony. Oh, did I mention that Kate is one of those girls who ends up spending too much with her boyfriend and zero time with her friends when they are in the relationship? Yes, she’s one of those and she knows it.
So, back to Tony. Tony is a strong man who knows how to get what he wants and when he wants it, he sticks with it. That’s how it happened with Kate and him. They were instantly attracted to each other and when they admitted it, they went for it. But seeing as Tony is one of her brother’s girlfriend’s (and soon-to-be wife) closest friend, she thought it would complicate things if things between them don’t work out in the end. With that, they decided to hide things from their friends and families. It’s kind of funny at some point because they’re already too obvious about it.

Kate and Tony’s relationship is not a typical one. Yes, they have drama but what it was was a surprise to me. When Tony dropped that bomb, I went “Oh, hell no!”. But I was relieved that that everything turned out great for him. I honestly am torn about them. I enjoyed reading their story and at the same time I felt like it was dragging at some point and hurried in some.

Finding Solace unfortunately wasn’t for me but I’m happy to tell everyone that Fearing Regret made an enjoyable reading experience for me and Ryan imprinted himself in my heart.

Romance, drama, and relationships, Barbara Speak's Fearing Regret will pull your heartstrings.
